5 Time Management Tips That Work – Back to the Basics

It doesn’t matter if  you’re a business owner, a high-powered executive or enrolled in an online college program, you have one asset that is valued more than any other – your time. It’s one of your most important tools, and like anything of value, it needs to be protected.

The following tips can help you protect and manage time, which is one of your most valuable assets.

1.  Prioritize with a purpose. Embrace reality and realize that you simply don’t have enough time to do everything you’d like to do. Prioritize with purpose and identify those things that matter the most. Place those items on your master list of priorities.

2.  When you make a schedule, stick to it. If you’re like 99 percent of the world’s population, chances are you’ve made schedules throughout your life that have been altered for one reason or another. This is your own personal war. Plant your flag on a hill, claim victory, and stick to your schedule. There will always be events or circumstances that will test your ability to stay the course.

3.  Multitask only when necessary. Doing things fast doesn’t always mean you can do them well. Take on tasks or challenges one at a time, and give the task your undivided attention. If you have too many things on your plate, you can always lighten your load. On the other hand, if your load is too light, you can make the adjustment to put a few more things on your list of priorities.

4.  Never be afraid to delegate. Do you have something that needs to be done, but you don’t have the time? Delegate! While it may be impossible to stop the clock, delegating a task can help you get a myriad of things accomplished.

5.  Pursue knowledge relentlessly. We’re all human and there’s enough self-doubt, unrealized promises and procrastination in the world that could last each of us an entire lifetime. Give yourself enough time to read, analyze and internalize! The world is filled with useful knowledge on how to give yourself a lift and get on with the business of succeeding in life.
